The active ingredient in Novamox Mixture is Amoxicillin Clavulanate.

Novamox Mixture is utilized to treat infections caused by bacteria that are sensitive to amoxicillin. Typical infections treated with amoxicillin include those of the middle ear, tonsils, throat, larynx (laryngitis), bronchi (bronchitis), lungs (pneumonia), urinary tract, and skin. It is also prescribed for gonorrhea.

Amoxicillin Clavulanate belongs to a group of medications known as penicillin-like antibiotics. It operates by inhibiting bacterial growth. Antibiotics are ineffective against colds, flu, and other viral infections. Novamox Mixture is generally taken every 12 hours (twice daily) or every 8 hours (three times daily), with or without food.

Adhere closely to the instructions on your prescription label, and consult your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions. Use Novamox Mixture exactly as instructed. Do not alter the dosage or frequency from what your doctor has prescribed. Shake the liquid and pediatric drops vigorously before each use to ensure proper mixing. Employ the provided dropper to measure the pediatric drops' dose. The pediatric drops and liquid can be placed directly on a child’s tongue or mixed with formula, milk, fruit juice, water, ginger ale, or other cold beverages for immediate consumption.

Continue taking Novamox Mixture until your prescription is complete, even if you start feeling better. Discontinuing amoxicillin prematurely may lead to bacteria developing resistance to antibiotics. Novamox Mixture is also occasionally used to prevent anthrax infection after exposure and to treat cutaneous anthrax infections and chlamydia infections in pregnant women. Discuss any potential risks of this medication regarding your condition with your doctor.

Before using Novamox Mixture, inform your doctor or pharmacist if you have any allergies to it, or to penicillin or cephalosporin antibiotics, or any other allergies. Novamox Mixture should only be utilized during pregnancy when clearly necessary. Talk about the risks and benefits with your doctor. Small amounts of Novamox are excreted into breast milk, posing a potential risk for sensitization and skin rashes in infants. It is advisable to consult your doctor before breastfeeding.

Before taking Novamox Mixture, inform your doctor or pharmacist of your medical history, particularly any issues with kidney disease or other infections (e.g., mononucleosis). This medication may contain aspartame. Novamox should only be used during pregnancy when absolutely necessary. Discuss the benefits and potential risks with your doctor. Novamox does pass into breast milk. Please consult your doctor before breastfeeding.
